Addressing Immediate and Medium-Term Needs

The partnership is rooted in the shared understanding that poverty requires a multifaceted response.

North Kensington Food Kitchen has been a vital lifeline for residents, providing nutritious meals (since Covid), and reducing food waste through collaborations with initiatives like the Felix Project. By addressing the immediate need for food security, they create a stable foundation for vulnerable individuals and families to focus on rebuilding their lives.

We at, Nucleus, will be complementing this work by offering medium-term support, tackling issues that perpetuate poverty, such as debt, housing instability, and barriers to accessing welfare benefits. By combining legal advice with educational workshops, Nucleus empowers people to navigate complex systems, secure their rights, and work toward long-term stability.

Recognizing the value of a holistic approach, the two organizations, in 2024, pledged to work together to create a more joined-up, community-led support system. This partnership aims to:

  1. Streamline Support Services: Ensure that individuals     accessing food bank services are seamlessly connected to legal and     educational resources using ~KCSC plinth project.
  2. Promote Empowerment: Equip residents with the     tools and knowledge needed to address the root causes of their challenges.
  3. Foster Community     Collaboration:     Build stronger ties between local initiatives, creating a unified front     against poverty.

The Road Ahead in 2025

As part of this new collaboration, the two charities will launch joint initiatives, including an On-site Legal Clinics: Setting up Weekly sessions every Wednesday morning advice sessions at the food kitchen sessions. And Support Workshops: Offering access to support via a social work placement offering practical support sessions on topics like budgeting, tenants’ rights, and navigating welfare systems.

By combining their approaches, we aim to link in the empowering individuals and strengthening the wider community.

Together, they represent a powerful model for tackling intrenched and deep poverty in a sustainable and community-driven way.
